Critical Camps will explore topics raised by Chaney’s ongoing research project Lizard Exit Plan – a speculative scenario in which an unspecified hypothetical apocalyptic event cuts off Cornwall’s Lizard peninsula from the global economy. West Cornwall Friends of the Earth are organising this talk and Q&A by Dr Stephen Bown, Trustee of Population Matters. He will be introduced by FoE group members Chris James and Monique Schneider - published authors on the topic of overpopulation.

"The Earth is finite. Already we are using natural resources at a rate that is 50% greater than is sustainable. Wildlife has declined by 50 % since 1970. The main underlying reasons are human over consumption and over population. Human ingenuity and technology cannot keep up with the increasing demand for renewable, natural resources. This presentation will describe how the global population is changing, where there is progress in stabilising numbers at sustainable levels and the factors that are holding back progress in other areas."
