Hayle Hub Event: Food in Friendship

7 February 2017 - 7:30pm - 10:00pm
The Cornish Arms, 86 Commercial Road, Hayle TR27 4DX

Transition Penwith's Hayle Hub warmly invites you to a meeting on Tuesday, 7th February, at 7.30 pm in The Cornish Arms, where we will be looking at various ways to become more self-sufficient and eco-friendly where food is concerned. The meeting is a part of our function as a focus of sustainable living in the Hayle area, (http://www.transitionpenwith.org.uk/hubs/hayle), and builds on the success of the Free Lunch back in October, where a team of volunteers produced an organic meal from donations by local producers for 70 folk, in the freely rented Hayle Day Care Centre, with ages ranging from 5 to 70+. Surely community at its best?
At our last meeting in December, we discussed various ideas of what we could do next…growing our own food in pots around town, a community orchard, involving the schools, or even sharing seedlings? And this meeting is the next step where we hope to decide on what is possible. This of course depends on turning enthusiasm into action!
If you are interested in local, organic, ethically-produced food, then come and share your ideas with growers, producers and sellers, a speaker from the Bude Food Assembly and others who work in supporting the vulnerable of our community.
In these troubled times it is increasingly difficult not to feel helpless about issues such as global warming, the degradation of our soil, water and air, and the various effects of mass-production. Taking action is the antidote, so think global and act local! See you there…
