Bosavern Community Farm Willow Planting WorkshopBosavern Community Farm Willow Planting WorkshopBosavern Community Farm are planning a second willow coppice in addition to their biomass coppice which surrounds the market garden. The second coppice will be for basketry/crafts/living willow structures etc. It will be 10m x 10m and home at least four varieties of willow - including a specialised windbreak willow - much needed in the challenging environment of Penwith. The site that they are looking at has waterlogging issues so they hope the willow will have a positive effect and make use of the extra water. Nikki will be running this day as a very practical workshop and will provide hot soup and organic bread for lunch. If you would like to learn about planting willow and enjoy being outside with sea views, then please contact Nikki and sign up via the Facebook page:

Penzance flag scrubbingPenzance flag scrubbingThere has been a call for a national weekend (12-14th February) of actions to again remind the politicians that we are expecting them to live up to their words in Paris in December. Noticing that there isn't an action on the map in Cornwall yet, David Smart Knight is planning to do a public "flag wash" in Penzance on Friday 12th February - and invite one and all to come and help.

The point of the flag wash is to get a union jack and scrub it clean of all the oil stains, moneyed interests and political corruption that are hijacking our country. If need be he will do this as a one-man show, however he would REALLY like some support. For further details on the context of this particular action see: http://act.350.org/event/show-the-love/12211/

West Cornwall Community Renewables (WCCR) is a Community Benefit Society and social enterprise that aims to develop local community-owned assets, particularly those that generate renewable energy, and so support the community of West Cornwall to move towards becoming self-sufficient in renewable energy.

Its aims in doing this are:
- to increase the amount of renewable electricity being generated in West Cornwall
- to raise the investment from local people [and others with a connection to the area] and provide a reasonable rate of interest on their investment
- to provide cheaper electricity for the sites where installations are developed
- to provide funds for further carbon reducing activities in West Cornwall
