Helston Railway Preservation Company

Until 1962 the Helston branch line linked Gwinear Road on the Cornish Main Line to Helston. The line was surveyed in 1994 in order to conduct a feasibility study into its reopening. It was decided that due to the amount of work needed and the possible revenue that could be generated, it was not worth the effort and the idea was eventually dropped. In 2005 volunteers from the Helston Railway Preservation Company started work on restoring a section of the line at Trevarno Gardens. By 2012 a mile of track had been completed and plans to rebuild Truthall Station were well advanced. Rides are currently available on Thursdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays between Easter and the end of November.
