Mounts Bay Singers

Mounts Bay Singers was formed in 2001 by Sheila Farmer who had a library of music and exciting ideas for a new mixed-voice choir. It's a mixed voice choir of about 35 voices. The choir has built up an eclectic repertoire with serious and humorous, religious and secular pieces. It includes short classical pieces, traditional songs from various countries, songs from musicals, pop songs and challenging and beautiful modern pieces. The choir meets at St Mary’s Catholic School, Peverell Road, Penzance every Tuesday evening between 7.15pm and 9.15pm. There are no auditions. Reading music is an advantage but certainly not a requirement.

Fast moving, young choir of approximately 50 people. Music reading desirable, but not essential if you are prepared to have a go at picking up simple music reading skills fairly quickly. The choir does regular concerts, festivals, recordings, tours and trips, etc and is aimed at people in the 18 to 50 age range who may be working or at college during the day. Lively people outside that age range will be considered if they are prepared play a full part in the life of the choir. You must be prepared to sing a wide range of music from the embracing classical repertoire, madrigals, jazz, pop and showtunes …

The Tre Project

Tre is the Cornish word for ‘Home/Homestead’. Using archive film as its inspiration and ‘home’ as its theme, the Tre Project collects old cine footage, creates digital content and produces a programme of new films to screen in community venues across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. They will be making films with communities from all over Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly; stories of old and new Kernow. The Tre Project film programme will include: a documentary feature; short films made with communities across Cornwall and the Scillies; short films made by West Cornwall students; and archive films. They will be coming to village events across the area with archive film material. The idea is to stimulate interest, debate and signpost. They want the Cornish community to get involved by following the story and sharing old films. And if you don’t have any footage but do have a unique story of Cornwall to share they can try to find existing footage that could go with it.
